About KAC
My name is Robert Allen Kovacs, and I create fine art wood sculptures. My family lives in Florida and my studio is based in Neptune Beach. All my work is created from locally sourced reclaimed Cypress. Each piece is an assembly of individual pieces of wood that I break down and shape from larger pieces and form into 3D sculptures, seascapes, or landscapes.
The inspiration for the subject matter for every piece comes from the ocean, seascapes, and landscapes that I have seen during my life. Collectors often share intimate knowledge of an event, place, or thing that allows me to tap into what they have experienced and apply it to the concept and creation of the work giving them a direct connection to it rather than just buying random art that may fit their style. It represents something in their lives that inspires me to bring it to life. My ultimate goal when creating a piece is for it to have movement. Regardless of what the concept is, I want to give it depth and action to make it look like a freeze-frame of an actual moment in time.
Currently, I have numerous pieces of work on display in the Jacksonville area. The offices of 904 Happy Hour in historic 5 Points , the offices of Landsouth Construction in the beaches area, The Lark Event Center downtown, and at the Red Gill Bistro at the Wyndham Hotel Southpoint. I also have dozens of pieces that have been purchased by private collectors across the US. My work has also been on display at the Jacksonville Seafood Festival in Jacksonville, Florida, and several other local “Art Walks” and pop-up art shows in the area.
Expressing myself through art has evolved into a passion that brings me unending happiness and allows me to focus my energy into a medium that doesn’t end when I kick out of a wave or stop strumming the guitar. It literally can last forever if taken care of and will become part of my legacy representing my existence in this world long after I have moved on.
